2025 GONG CAMP

September 28, 2025 9am - October 9, 2025 12pm

The 2025 Gong Camp is SOLD OUT- we're currently working through the Wait List

Day sessions are generally focused on techniques, exercises, and drills to enhance skill set and endurance. Sessions are led by internationally recognised Gong teachers Mitch Nur and Michael Bettine ( who both have been playing gongs for over 5 decades each ), Physicist Thomas Orr Anderson who will talk about the science on why Gongs have unique sound signatures and behave the way they do when impacted with a mallet, Mike Tamburo who has just returned with Mitch from touring Europe and is the leading touring Gong player in the world today. This academic approach coupled with skill set development and mentoring is the reason why Gong Camp is the world leader in developing Gong players and setting a standard that is copied by others. Rounding all this out, is a visit by mallet maker John Minks from Deep Space Mallets who will explain how Gong mallets are constructed and used. The program is a deep dive by instructors who want to make better Gong players out of everyone. This program is focused on everything Gong - from Gong Stands, Gong Mallets, and Gongs from all the Gong Cultures found in the world, set up side by side, so students can compare and evaluate them. No program in the world does this. Most programs feature just one style of Gong limiting the student's understanding of Gong Craft internationally. Gong Camp has a collection of Gongs that is museum quality and unparalleled. This year's Special Guest is Rolf Nitsch from Gongland Gongs in Germany

Simply put, Gong Camp features Authors, Ethnomusicologists, Scientists, Musicians, and Educators who are tasked with mentoring students to become better Gong players.

The address for this year's Camp is HiLight by the Lake - 1586 Elephant Rd., Perkasie, PA 18944 - a rural location in Upper Bucks County close to Lake Nockamixion. There is no food provided other than snacks and coffee and tea.
