January 16, 2019

A day long adventure into the world of Gongs, featuring a academic power point, combined with a selection of Gong types including a 52" Gong, that was recently commissioned in China for the use in a newly developed Gong Therapy protocol. This Gong begins it's soundscape in the first octave below the range of hearing - so you feel it, before you hear it. When it reaches the 2nd octave, it's resonant field reaches a level that has been clinically proven to stimulate neural pathways for people with diminished neural capacities. It's pressure wave creates a tactile experience which can only be explained as a 'aural embrace or sonic massage''; giving one insights on the physical body itself. Working with Gongs this size and frequency seems to promote clairaudience and an earwitness to what R. Murray Shaeffer in speaking about hearing "a way of touching at a distance" and a "tactile experience where hearing and touch meet", an intimate embrace of the soundscape itself.

Prepare to go deep into the world of Gongs, escorted by a pioneer in the field of Sound Therapy for nearly 5...

Harmonic Therapy is a non invasive, translational based treatment, where the direct, live, presentation of indigenous sound, rhythm, and melody is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and societal needs of individuals. Employing the over and undertones of sound through the use of transcultural instruments, they allow the listener an enhanced firsthand experience, which can produce extraordinary states of consciousness; and can initiate the Relaxation Response. Sessions can also lead to a higher sense of self, and create an entry point for self discovery.

February 1, 2019 7:30pm

This is the legendary Black Class that was first held for the public in Taos, New Mexico in 2004, and now returns to Circles of Wisdom once again, after a 5 year absence. This program will literally take your breath away. Based on the use of darkness by indigenous and shamanic cultures worldwide, including what the Bon/Buddhists call the Dark Retreat; you will be taken into a myriad of internal worlds, escorted by a soundscape presented live. This program has always sold out, every time it is presented. Designed and presented by Mitch Nur, PhD.

If you have issues with being in the Dark, then it may be best to take a pass on this program.

What exactly is the Black Class ?

A Psycho-Acoustical Exercise.........

Combining the use of indigenous sound tools, music therapy, psycho-acoustical sound 'triggers', musical Semiotics, and Acousmatic Sound theory; the Black Class affords the opportunity of escaping from patterns that regulate our position in the environment. Once free from these restricting patterns, we create new ones which can facilitate inner...

SOLD OUT

The Bönpo Shang is one of the world's oldest shamanic Sound Tools, and quite possibly the oldest metal sound tool, predating the gong. It's history dates back to the ancient kingdom of ZhangZhung, and is mentioned in writings attributed to the founder of Bön, Tonpa Shenrab. The instrument existed at the time of Lord Shenrab ( 18,000BC according to some historians ), and may be considerably older according to sources in the Bön community. The instrument is found in other shamanic traditions in the Himalayas, Tibet, Bhutan, Yunnan, Tuva, Mongolia, and as far north as the Buriyat Republic. This is the most comprehensive training program on this instrument in the world today. The program covers the uses and knowledge contained with the Bönpo culture, and then extends further into the shamanic uses by the lha-pa, dpa-mo, and lha-beb priests; as well as the uses by the Bomba, Paju and Naxi. The Shang is an incredible sound tool in the hands of someone who has been trained and tutored in the ways of this instrument. Do not confuse this program...

Sonic Theology NEW FB copy.jpeg

June 2, 2019 9am - June 7, 2019 2pm

Sonic Theology is the metaphysics of sound, and features an examination of Western, Mid Eastern, and Far Eastern theoretical approaches to Sound Therapy. A 43,000 year analysis of the footprints of Sound Therapy, and beyond. One of the power-points features over 150 frames of information alone; and there are 5 power-points throughout the program. We even have a movie night! Sonic Theology is everything missing from all sound healing programs presented in the West, and may very well be the most thorough historical investigation on the subject ever presented. Don't be fooled into thinking that the western model of Sound Therapy is important, because it is based on much older systems outside the Greek model. This program is limited to just 11 new students to insure an intimate learning environment. Discover what Pythagoras brought to Crotana from India, why is the House of Wisdom important, follow the thread from Gobustan to Anatolia, and discover ancient systems that are useful today. While Europe was under the grips of the Dark Ages, the Golden Chain of the...

July 20, 2019 9am - July 21, 2019 5pm

Singing Bowls of the Himalayas: Circles of Sacred Sound is a foundational examination into one of the most widely used sound tools in meditation, sound healing, mindfulness techniques and personal transformation. Their popularity is at an all time high, people draw deep connections with these instruments, but finding accurate information is a daunting task, much less finding a mentoring program that can create progressive skill sets enabling one to sink deep roots into the experience of working with them. Students are encouraged to bring their own bowls, or ones will be provided for student use. The focus of this workshop is built upon these preliminary steps:

• Selecting and evaluating Singing Bowls, in order to make the best buying decision so your not wasting money on Singing Bowls you lose interest in. This includes learning how the people of the Himalayas evaluate and choose them, and what types of Bowls are the most effective in western methods of sound therapy. Included in this aspect of the program is a video from Mitch’s most recent field studies...

Sonic Theology Science of Sound Master 420.jpg

August 18, 2019 9am - August 23, 2019 2pm

Distinctions in understanding the Science of Sound Therapy, presented in a clear transmission. This program examines all the latest information drawn from cognitive neuroscience, brain studies, psychology, music therapy, acoustical physics, wave phenomena, behavioral neurology, harmonic theory, understanding musical terminology, and more. This is the how and why sound influences the mind-body complex. This program goes far beyond the current 'talking points' found in most sound healing studies; and stretches the boundaries on how to train the Sound Therapist of tomorrow.

We are not an instrument based program like so many training's that are offered worldwide; and we see the student as the instrument that requires tuning. Teaching sound therapy with instruments is simply musical instrument lessons disguised as theory, this approach leaves the student unprepared for dealing with many issues including trauma. Sound is the motivator behind the transformation of consciousness, and this is the basis of our training protocol.

Our program is considered a college level...

9ways is currently focused on training the Sound Worker of tomorrow. If you desire to rise above the mundane, and wish to tread in the footsteps of those that go about seeking the aim or purpose of Wisdom, give serious attention to our programs.

The enormous popularity of working with Sound has taken the term ‘sound healing’ mainstream, and a day does not go by where people are not talking about sound immersions, gong baths, kirtans, and a host of sound healing events promoted on social media. With this popularity comes interest, and with interest comes the responsibility of...

The Art of Tactile Tonality SC.jpg

Invitation Only after all prerequisites are met

This program replaces The Art of the Zildjin.

How do you qualify for an invitation? Complete Sonic Theology, do at least one Gong Camp, complete all work related to the reading list. An exercise in Aspiration and Diligence, on top of the Right Attitude and Right Conduct. You cannot work with spiritual substances (per the definition of the Ikhwan) until you Change.

➤ Art of Tactile Tonality is the 'inner' element of being a representative of the Gong. This program is not focused on 'social identity' but professional distinctiveness, and serves to raise the bar on how someone is educated, and mentored on the Art of Gong. The final element of the training is the 'purification of intelligence' the removing of the darkness of ego. The Gong Aarti, is the Gong Practitioners symbolic offering, to the measureless tonality of being. Through this, the action of the GongMaster becomes the 'thread' weaving the rope that pulls them from 'inertia' into...
